Felted Hat in Fritidsgarn

Material: 3 balls Fritidsgarn

Needles: short circular 7mm and double pointed 7mm

Abbreviations:K= knit, P=purl, k2tog = knit together

Cast on 104sts. Starting with a knit row work in stst for 8 rows.

Next row: purl and decrease 12 sts evenly.

Knit 2 rows. ( last row is the ridge)

Facing right side of work:

Next row: purl and decrease 12 sts evenly.

Next: Purl one rows. ( this row marks the ridge)

Next: Knit to last stitch and join in round by knitting the last and the first sts together. Place a stitch marker and proceed knitting in rounds until hat measures from ridge 16cm.

Decrease row: K3, k2tog, * k5, k2tog; repeat from * to last 5 sts, k3, k2tog. =69sts

Knit 3 rows without decreasing.

Decrease row: K4, * k4, k2tog; repeat from * to last 4 sts, K5.= 59sts

Knit 3 rows without decreasing.

Decrease row: K4, * k3, k2tog; repeat from * to last 4 sts, K1.= 48sts

Knit 2 rows without decreasing.

Decrease row: *K2, k2tog, repeat from * to end = 36sts

Knit 1 row without decreasing.

Decrease row: * K1, k2tog, repeat from * to end = 24sts

Change to double pointed needles.

Knit 1 row without decreasing.

Decrease row: * k2tog, repeat from * to end = 12sts

Knit 1 row without decreasing.

Decrease row: * k1, k2tog; repeat from * to end = 8sts. Cut yarn and pull through remaining stitches. Fasten securely. Sew together the brim ends and sew in yarn ends.

You can decorate the hat with 2 inch wide knitted bands out of a fancy yarn or have a few different bands handy to have a different look each day. Short scarves work nicely as well.

The brim can be made with less rows for a shorter brim.
For the decoration :( we used an Eros shawl)  You can use anything from a shawl to pins.
